Meet the Hood Family

Hood Family

The Hood family is a large one. Dr. James G. Hood and Karen Jean Matsko Hood have 16 children. Some of these are their biological children and the others are adopted from the United States as well as from Korea, India, and Ethiopia.

Dr. Hood is a Spokane Valley, Washington, family dentist.  Karen is a writer, poet, and cook. They also have a 30-acre farm with horses, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, and dogs, with plans to add cows and sheep. They also raise vegetables, herbs, and berries, along with an orchard and a small vineyard.

Two of their daughters are married. Two other daughters work in their father’s dental practice. A son is attending university in San Francisco. A daughter is attending college locally, while the remaining children are at home.
